Let's Talk 'Parks and Rec' ... in Person!

I've got tour details, let's hang out IRL and connect over a very pleasant subject.

I can’t wait to see as many folks as possible on my upcoming book tour to discuss the very uplifting subject of Parks and Rec. (Order early and often here!) Though this is my ninth book, I take exceptional joy in this one, thanks to its subjects, who demonstrate the importance of community, empathy, understanding, citizenship, service, and uplift at a time when all of those are in short supply.

I would love to meet you at any of the following appearances. (There might be a few more to come soon in other cities.) Parks and Rec is about connection, and your support means everything.

New York City, April 7 @ 7 p.m., 92Y: In conversation with Emily Nussbaum, the Pulitzer Prize-winning New Yorker critic and longtime Parks and Rec fan.

Chicago, April 22 @ 6 p.m., American Writers Museum: Talking Pawnee local media and government in my hometown, which is also Nic Offerman’s hometown, and is where my own local newspaper career started (and ended).

Hudson Valley, April 25 @ 4:30 p.m., Starlite Motel in Kerhonkson: A special fireside chat with Kingston Mayor Steve Noble, featured in the book as the “real-life Leslie Knope” who started his career in the parks department. We will also have P&R-themed snacks and cocktails!

Los Angeles, June 2 @ 7 p.m., Vroman's Bookstore in Pasadena: Less than a mile from "Pawnee City Hall" (played onscreen by Pasadena City Hall), we will be paying tribute to the local media of Pawnee, and specifically Shauna Malwae-Tweep, with the actress who played her, Alison Becker. (She's my favorite because I, too, was a local newspaper reporter.) We don't have a direct link for this event yet, but mark your calendars in LA!
